Este tipo de batería, que también es VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead-Acid), tiene el electrolito fijado en forma de gel, en una estructura tixotrópica. Con ello se consigue que el ácido se adhiera más homogeneamente a la placa de plomo a lo largo de la totalidad de su vida activa, por lo que se obtienen unos excelentes valores de capacidad en toda la vida de la batería.
